Risk Log

So, this week, I took a bunch of risks. I am happy about that fact, just for its own sake. Some paid off, some haven't, at least not yet. Let's take a look:

1> I read this blog post, detailing one coach's presentation at Ignite Phoenix, an event where all sorts of people get to make a five minute presentation an any topic they wish. I thought it would be fun to do this in Chicago, and put out some feelers. There is interesst, it may happen, and if it does, I am on the team... (yikes!)

2> Chicago's NPR affiliate is doing a segment called "Hard Working," about jobs and the economy, and they are holding an event called the Hard Working Cafe, on a lark I called NPR and the cafe host, Jane Addams Hull House at University of Illinois-Chicago. I will have a table at the event to do career coaching, and I may even get a brief article at NPR!

3> I saw an opportunity for a team-building event for a local company experiencing falling morale after a new CEO and I am creating a proposal, along with another coach I respect a great deal. This is a doable stretch for me.

4> I called a lead I met at the gym. Not sure where this is going, but it's exciting.

I feel alive when I take risks, and I love it when the pay off. Why am I telling you? Because I want to call attention, yours and mine, to this in order to reinforce it. Where your thoughts go, so goes your life!
